Mother Nature is so strange. They've been talking on the radio about being on watch for the 'corpse flower'. It looks like it will bloom this weekend at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. Until I read about it I had no idea they were so rare - it will be only the second bloom in Texas and the 29th in the United States. I think I'll be happy just looking at the photos, but I am sure there are people out there who will brave the smell, described as "smelling like a decomposing carcass" to see this rare flower.

I have to wonder why it developed this smell and also why it is so rare.....
