Yes We Can

When I got home last night, Kevin already had the television on to watch the election coverage. It was an exciting night, watching them make projections of whether or state would be red or blue, and CNN would often hold off on making projections until they were sure, so we didn't have a repeat of previous elections. There was a lot of analysis with their "magic map". I've never been a strict member of one party or another, but was so happy to see many of the states colored blue. Right after the polls closed in CA, WA, and OR they projected Obama as the winner! History is made and a new chapter begins for our country. I am glad the campaigning is finally over, two years - and it had to have been the longest for each of the candidates.

Throughout the night they showed Grant Park where thousands of people gathered for Obama's speech, and seeing the sea of faces, including all races and ages was really indictive of the diversity of our country and all the various groups that support him. I am so happy that he will be our next President. We also watched McCain's concession speech, ad I have a lot of respect for him and all that he has done for our country and hope he does continue to work for the good of our country, but I truly believe that Obama is the president we need right now.

funny note: CNN's "thing that had never been done on television" - a reporter in Chicago was brought into the studio as a 3D hologram, psst...its been done, watch Star Wars. and it was really dumb, I'd rather watch them on location with the people and places of that location in the background.
